Welcome to Scotter Pre-school

We are a well established setting based in the village hall extension, within the heart of the community, next to Scotter Primary School.

We aim to provide your child with an enriched learning through play experience, preparing them for school in a warm, caring, friendly environment.

We cater for children from aged 2 years until starting school. We also benefit from a Breakfast Club which caters for children aged 2 to 11 years, safely escorting primary aged children to Scotter Primary School.

Our outdoor play area and access to the playing field, allows us to extend our learning outside of the hall.

The strong links we have with the local schools enable smooth transitions into primary school.

One of the fundamental principles of Scotter Preschool is that every child is unique and has an inherently capable, full of curiosity and potential. We encourage every child by encouraging a flexible, responsive approach to learning. Instead of assuming all children will reach milestones at the same time. Our role is therefore to facilitate and nurture their natural desire to explore, question, and make sense of the world around them.

We emphasise on child-led, play-based learning, supporting the development of our children into capable and competent individuals whose voice and ideas are central to their own development.

Our practitioners are encouraged to spend more time with each child, engaging in play and conversations. Meaningful interactions are at the heart of effective learning. Simple conversations, storytelling, and active listening are so valuable.

Practitioners will use their professional judgement to assess progress and plan activities to develop each child.

In our brand-new setting, we have taken care to create warm, welcoming spaces, cosy corners with lots of natural light, and soft furnishings help to create calm, nurturing and emotionally secure spaces that support children’s self-regulation and independence.
